Revelationz Review of 'RUBBISH!'
The Erotics - Rubbish The Erotics has been an underground name for years. Despite not getting the big break yet The Erotics has not been tempted to make more commercial music but continue to make their self proclaimed "Gutter Rock". "Rubbish" is my first Erotics experience and I fell for their catchy, sleazy Rock N' Roll. Singer Mike Trash sounds like a clone of Steve Summers and Alice Cooper, but he still has his own style. When I reviewed the latest Backyard Babies release I criticized their material of being too safe and polished - well, this is what they should sound like. The Erotics is authentic. Terrorize you frightens you and you don't question Mike Trash's creditability when he belts out the vocals. If you pay attention to the lyrics the romantic band name is misleading. The best song on "Rubbish" is Push Comes to Death. The sleazy riffs and cowbell is just 200 percent attitude. The Erotics has their own sound. They sound raw and garage like. The Erotics sounds like they come right off New York's toughest streets, but they hail from Albany, Birmingham.(We actually ARE from the mean streets of New York! -ed.) Their cover version of AC/DC's Walk All over You has a thick American accent. Mike Trash is a great songwriter and his tone certainly differentiates The Erotics. "Rubbish" is a dose of unpretentious Rock N' Roll in the pure sense of RAWK N'ROLL. It only took 28 minutes to convince yours truly that The Erotics have everything I need in Sleaze with hook laden riffs, attitude filled vocals and just great songs. U.K. based label Trashpit Records is responsible for the first European release from The Erotics. Check out http://www.trashpit.co.uk for more information.
